TBI in Children

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) refers to injuries other than those in infants born with a brain injury. It also is not used for brain injuries that occur during birth.

More than one million children receive traumatic brain injuries (TBI) each year in the USA (almost half of all TBIs). More than 30,000 of these children have lifelong disabilities as a result of the brain injury.

Traumatic brain injuries can cause changes in one or more areas, such as:
  • Thinking and reasoning
  • Word comprehension
  • Memory
  • Attention span
  • Problem solving
  • Abstract thinking
  • Speech
  • Behavior
  • Coordination affecting walking and physical movement
  • Vision
  • Hearing
  • Learning

Among children ages 0 to 14 years, TBI also results in an annual estimate of 2,685 deaths, 37,000 hospitalizations, 435,000 emergency department visits.

If you or a loved one has suffered a traumatic brain injury, whether as the result of an automobile accident, bicycle collision, fall, playground mishap or other cause, it is critical that you contact a brain injury lawyer as early as possible following the injury.

The lawyers at Findlay Law Offices have special expertise and specialized medical knowledge in the area of brain injuries. We are prepared to help you obtain full, fair and just compensation. Please contact us for a free consultation if you live in the Toronto
