Common Workplace Accidents

Workplace accidents can happen to anyone, in any industry, at any time. Of course, certain industries are more dangerous making accidents more likely, but all businesses provide some amount of risk to their employees. It is the responsibility of your employer to enforce safety regulations, but even with these in place, not all workplace accidents can be avoided. For this reason, most employers offer disability insurance to help cover the medical costs associated with an onsite accident.

Workplace Accidents

The most common types of workplace accidents are:

  • Slips, trips, and falls. No matter what industry you work in, you are at risk of sustaining injuries from an impact with the floor. Boxes left on stock room floors, spills left unattended, and falls from heights are only a few examples of what could potentially harm you.
  • Lifting accidents. Even if you use the proper lifting technique, it is possible to hurt yourself at work while lifting an object. Injuries from lifting can make it difficult, if not impossible, to perform even the most basic functions of your job.
  • Impact with an object. Whether from a box falling off a high shelf, or a hammer dropped mid-swing, most work environments provide ample opportunity for injury sustained from impact with an unforgiving object.

This list is, of course, not all-inclusive; depending on what industry you work in, you may suffer from burns, cuts, inhalation of chemicals, and even impaling. No matter what injuries you sustain at work however, you need to know your medical expenses will be covered.

Disability Insurance

Most workplace injuries are handled by disability insurance. The problem is, insurance companies are more interested in protecting their profits than paying for your claim. Even disability insurance that you have purchased individually may not pay out the amount you need. This is why it's important to have the experienced disability insurance attorneys at Findlay Law on your side, to make sure you and your family receives the full benefits available.

If you live in Hamilton, Burlington, Mississauga, Kitchener, Niagara Falls, or the golden horseshoe, and have been injured in the workplace, please contact the workplace injury lawyers at Findlay Law for a free, confidential consultation, and start on your way to getting the compensation you deserve.
